LR Aquarium Nitrate Remover

Monitoring the amount of nitrates in your saltwater tank is crucial for the overall health of your aquarium. High levels of nitrates in your tank can lead to the excess growth of unsightly algae and other pests. These pests and algae can lead to bacterial imbalances, which can negatively impact your coral growth and cause excess stress to your fish. Quantum has the answer to your nitrate problems, with our low range aquarium nitrate remover. LR Nitrate Remover™ should be used in aquariums with a nitrate concentration of 15 ppm or less. 

How Does It Work?

LR Nitrate Remover is designed for aquariums that have a nitrate concentration of 15 ppm or less. This aquarium nitrate remover has been formulated specifically to reduce nitrate concentrations within marine/reef environments and it works by providing bioavailable carbon sources to denitrifying bacteria present in media, deep sand beds and inner pores of live rock.

For LR Nitrate Remover to be effective, your tank should have at least 3 inches of substrate. This will allow the first inch to contain little to no oxygen, which in turn will allow denitrifying anerobes to cultivate and utilize nitrate as a natural aquarium nitrate remover. Thiobacillus denitrificans, Micrococcus denitrificans, and some species of Serratia, Pseudomonas, and Achromobacter are bacteria species that are helpful in the denitrifying processes.

If you are experiencing nitrate concentrations above 15 ppm, we recommend using our HR Nitrate Remover™, then making the switch to LR Nitrate Remover once nitrate levels become 15 ppm or lower.

Required Parameters:

Before you start using LR Nitrate Remover, ensure your aquarium fits these parameters: – Maximum 15 ppm nitrate – dKH 7 – pH 8.2

Directions:

• Shaking is not required. However, if the product has been left standing for an extended length of time, we do recommend that you invert the bottle 3-4 times before using.
• LR Nitrate Remover must be used in saltwater aquariums with a protein skimmer. Add the product to a high water flow. Be careful to not overdose your tank with this aquarium nitrate remover.

Dosing:

When dosing LR Nitrate Remover, we recommend the guidelines shown below, based on nitrate levels in your aquarium:

0.1 - 1.0 ppm = 0.1 - 0.5 ml per day/100l/26G

1.0 - 5.0 ppm = 0.5 - 1.0 ml per day/100l/26G

5.0 - 10 ppm = 1.0 - 2.0 ml per day/100l/26G

10 - 15 ppm = 2.0 - 3.0 ml per day/100l/26G
