Calcium, alkalinity, magnesium and potassium aren't one-size-fits-all — an SPS-packed tank and a fish-only-with-live-rock tank ask completely different things of their salt mix. Pick a tank type on the right and watch the numbers move.

Same clean, humidity-controlled hybrid base — natural South Australian seawater blended with a synthetic mix, plus macrobiotics, probiotics and vitamin precursors in all four. What changes is how hard each one leans on Ca, Alk, Mg and K.

Every batch is run through our in-house Inductively Coupled Plasma (ICP) test equipment before it ships. The report that comes in your package tells you exactly what that specific batch mixes to — Ca, Alk, Mg, K — plus a full readout of the trace elements riding along with the natural seawater base. No guessing whether this bucket matches the numbers on the label.

What each number actually does

Skip the jargon — here's what you're feeding your tank, and what happens if it runs short.

Ca · ppm

Calcium

The raw building block of coral skeleton. Runs low in fast-growing SPS systems and needs regular top-up alongside alkalinity — the two are used in a fixed ratio.

Alk · dKH

Alkalinity

The buffering capacity that keeps pH stable and carries carbonate to growing coral. Fleshy LPS corals lean on a higher, steadier baseline; SPS wants it tight and low.

Mg · ppm

Magnesium

Keeps calcium and alkalinity from precipitating out of solution together. Low magnesium is the usual culprit when Ca and Alk won't hold steady no matter how much you dose.

K · ppm

Potassium

A minor element with an outsized effect on coral color and tissue health. Often overlooked until coloration starts to fade under otherwise good parameters.
