HR Nitrate Remover™
Keeping on top of the amount of nitrates in your saltwater aquarium is imperative for the health of your tank. Elevated levels of nitrates in your tank can lead to the growth of nuisance algae and other pests. This can lead to bacterial imbalances which have the potential to inhibit your coral growth and cause excess stress to your fish. Quantum has the answer to your nitrate problems, with our high range nitrate remover. HR Nitrate Remover™ should be used in aquariums with a nitrate concentration above 15 ppm.
How Does It Work?
HR Nitrate Remover is designed for aquariums that have a nitrate concentration higher than 15 ppm. It has been formulated specifically to reduce high nitrate concentrations within marine/reef environments and it works by providing bioavailable carbon sources to denitrifying bacteria present in media, deep sand beds and inner pores of live rock.
The following bacteria are helpful in the denitrifying processes: Thiobacillus denitrificans, Micrococcus denitrificans, along with some species of Serratia, Pseudomonas, and Achromobacter. Ensure you are setting your mini marine ecosystem up for success with adequately thick substrate. At least 3 inches is ideal, as this allows the first inch to contain little to no oxygen. This creates the perfect environment for denitrifying anerobes (like Thiobacillus denitrificans and Micrococcus denitrificans) to cultivate and utilize nitrate as a natural nitrate remover. These good bacteria will oxidize the carbon into carbon dioxide while reducing nitrate to chemically inert nitrogen gas.
If you are experiencing nitrate concentrations of 15 ppm or lower, we recommend using our LR Nitrate Remover™.
Contents:
– Deionized water
– Bioavailable carbon sources
Required Parameters
Before you start using HR Nitrate Remover, ensure your aquarium fits these parameters:
– Minimum 15 ppm nitrate
– dKH 7
– pH 8.2
Directions
Shaking is not required. However, if the product has been left standing for a length of time, we do recommend that you invert the bottle 3-4 times before using. HR Nitrate Remover must be used in saltwater aquariums with a protein skimmer. Add the product to a high water flow, being careful to not overdose.
Dosing
When dosing HR Nitrate Remover, we recommend the guidelines shown below, based on nitrate levels in your aquarium:
15 - 30 ppm = 1.5 - 3.0 ml per day/100L/26G
30 - 45 ppm = 3.0 - 4.5 ml per day/100L/26G
45 - 60 ppm = 4.56 - 6.0 ml per day/100L/26G
60 ppm = 6.0 ml per day/100L/26G
Caution: Keep out of reach of children. May cause skin irritation. In case of contact with eyes, or swallowed seek medical advice immediately
