Easy Reefer® Easy Z™ Aquarium Alkalinity

It’s no secret that the Alkalinity level in your aquarium is a crucial element to the success of your aquarium's overall health. Regularly monitoring the alkalinity level will ensure that you maintain a healthy, happy environment for your marine life, which, at the end of the day, is what we are all striving to do.

The ideal alkalinity level in aquariums is not quite a one-size-fits-all approach. The species you choose to have in your tank will dictate your ideal alkalinity level requirements. While 7.0- 12.5 dKH is acceptable in a basic saltwater set up, (natural seawater is 6.8 - 8.2 dKH depending on location) reef tanks in particular do better when the levels stay in the middle of that range—between 8.0 - 9.0 dKH. Easy Reefer Easy Z is designed to provide aquarium alkalinity, as well as other key elements such as potassium, bromine, iodine, fluorine and boron to help build strong aragonite and enhance coral color. Aragonite is calcium carbonate and is the main building block for reef structure. It’s also particularly important for stony corals and their skeletons. When aragonite elements are low in concentration, corals may develop brittle calcite, which leads to lower bone density and overall slower growth.

When used alongside our Easy E™ supplement, Easy Z provides your aquarium with the necessary major, minor, and trace elements required for coral health. The Easy Reefer supplements are perfect for those who do not have much space in their sump for multiple dosing units.

Every aquarium is unique due to its natural biodiversity and filtration. Therefore, your aquarium may need additional top-ups of major, minor, and trace elements. If it does, we recommend using our Aragonite Enhancers™ and Bioactive Color Intensifiers™ and/or our Reef Essential® Signature Series™.

Dosing

When dosing Easy Reefer Easy Z to ensure optimal aquarium alkalinity levels, we recommend following our dosage guidelines below:

Lightly stocked = 0.50 mL/100L (26 US gal) per day

Moderately stocked = 0.75 mL/100L (26 US gal) per day

Heavily stocked = 1.00 mL/100L (26 US gal) per day

Or dose as required to keep: Alkalinity 7.4 - 10.5 dKH Potassium 375 - 400 ppm Iodine 0.06 - 0.09 ppm Bromine 55 - 75 ppm Fluorine 1.2 - 1.4 ppm Boron between 4 - 5 ppm*

*Please Note: 1 mL/100L (26 US gal) will raise alkalinity by 0.09 dKH; other elements will increase relatively.
