The fourth chlorophyll cofactor
Molybdenum is a key constituent in the formation of chlorophyll found in zooxanthellae, completing the trace-metal set (with iron, manganese and vanadium) that coral photosynthesis relies on.
Macroalgae & nutrient export
Molybdenum also aids macroalgae growth, which naturally reduces unwanted nutrients in the aquarium while providing oxygen, expelling carbon dioxide, and improving pH stability.
Photosynthetic corals & refugiums
The same dense-zooxanthellae LPS and SPS species that need iron, manganese and vanadium draw on molybdenum through the same photosynthetic pathway.
