Lithium is an essential element found in natural seawater. To replicate natural seawater parameters as closely as possible, supplementation is highly recommended once your ICP test shows it running low.

Lithium doesn't have a single dramatic biochemical role like iodine or iron — its value is in keeping your water chemistry closer to the full trace-element profile of natural seawater, which many synthetic salts under-deliver over time.
RODI-heavy, low-natural-load systems
Systems running fully synthetic salt with aggressive skimming or heavy water changes are more likely to show a lithium gap than tanks with natural seawater or live sand top-ups.
