Unlike water pulled directly from an established tank, freshly mixed saltwater needs time to fully dissolve, stabilize in temperature, and reach a consistent salinity before it’s safe to introduce to livestock.

Properly preparing freshly mixed saltwater is one of the more routine but consequential tasks in reef keeping, since poorly mixed or mismatched water can introduce unnecessary parameter swings during an otherwise straightforward maintenance task.
